2019 Tree Climbers Rendezvous

Join us October 13-16, 2019

This year’s Rendezvous will be in the Amazing California Redwoods October 13 through October 16 at the Redwood River Resort near Leggett, CA.  The redwoods are of course the tallest growing trees in the world and some of the longest living.  They have evolved to thrive in the unique conditions of coastal Northern California with its mild climate, rain and fog.

This resort is in a forest of very large redwoods we can climb with an understory of tan oaks for demonstrations and “low and slow” practice of new techniques.  It is by the South Fork Eel River in northern Mendocino County just south Humboldt County.  This is in the middle of the coastal redwood range.   October here is typically warm, dry and clear.

The resort has comfortable cabins and camp sites for tents or RVs with hookups.  Besides climbing there are opportunities for hiking, swimming, playing games and socializing with other tree people around camp and in the bar.  The entire resort has been reserved for the event.  You can check it out at:  redwoodriverresort.com

We will have a program of select evening presentations and daytime climbing technique workshops.  The keynote speaker will be Stuart Moskowitz, the caretaker of the Luna Sanctuary Forest in Humboldt County.  Luna is the large old growth forest where Julia Butterfly Hill spend two years tree-sitting in order to save it.  She was successful and the tree and surrounding site are now preserved.  Check out the Sanctuary Forest web site:  http://sanctuaryforest.org/programs/land-conservation/luna/

Other speakers will talk about redwood natural and cultural history and tree climbing research around the world.
